We’re back – and with a huge update! We’ve overhauled our brand, our website and most importantly, our app. If you haven’t seen it already, what are you waiting for – head on over to the website and the app to check out the new ExploreMaps.
We’ve been really really quiet across all our socials over the last few months busy working on energising ExploreMaps – looking inward and thinking deeply about who we are, what makes us unique, how we reflect our identity and values as an organization, what the problems we are trying to solve for our community, and how we go about solving them. After much discussion and brainstorming between Priya, myself and our whole ExploreMaps team, we’ve not only come up with a new visual language but also refined our identity and core DNA of the company. And we’re proud of our transformation; the look is expressive, with vibrant colours, a versatile typeface, and playful illustrations – a look that captures ExploreMaps as we’ve envisioned it.
Our New Look
Brand overhauling and re-designs aren’t all rainbows and unicorns – it is a complex process. Sometimes messy, often times emotional: a process that requires much dedication, focus and a deep dive into every nook, corner and pixel – as it often is when you look inward. So why spend all that time and effort? Simply put, we needed to change because we’ve evolved. We needed a brand that reflected and expressed our values, personality as well as our community’s personality. The dominant bright orange in our logo expresses our playfulness, energy, enthusiasm and adventurous spirit and the yellow and blue in our visual design expresses our optimism and openness to different experiences.
While the logo and visual design is the most immediately visible and easily recognisable part of our brand, we also focused closely on developing our community’s experience and relationship with the brand. We understand that our brand is not just logos and design, it is also about the experience, emotion and connection of our community, and our new look and interface conveys our dedication to our purpose and to our relationship with our community. In essence, our new look and feel is not just unabashedly us, but also an ode to our amazing community for embarking on this journey with us.
The Road Ahead
Nothing’s perfect and we’re a work-in-progress. We’re proud of the direction we’re heading towards and the way we’re innovating amidst a global uncertainty. We’re only just opening the curtain on a second act, as a company and a brand. This is only just the beginning and we’re excited and thrilled for the next leg of our journey as an organization, continuing to develop, grow and innovate, even amidst these trying times. This is the fun part for us – the creative innovation. We’re confident of our future ahead, and we now feel like we’ve got a foundation and look to better represent that.
